“IN THE BEGINNING (rê’shı̂yth: the first, in place, time, order or rank) GOD (remember there is God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit) created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without FORM (tôhû: nothingness) and VOID (bôhû: emptiness) and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. Then God said, “LET THERE BE LIGHT“; and THERE WAS LIGHT (‘ôr: to be enlightened).” (Genesis 1:1-3)
So, in the creation process the very first thing that was created was light (enlightenment). The illumination of everything happened on day 4 when the sun, moon and all the stars were created.
Here is something important to understand about the creation process. The apostle John said, “Now I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse. And He who sat on him was called Faithful and True…He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called THE WORD OF GOD.” (Revelation 19:11-13) “In the beginning was the WORD, and the WORD was with God, and the WORD was God…And the WORD became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.” (John 1:1, 14)
That is His Name, so, what did He do? “ALL THINGS WERE MADE BY HIM; and nothing was created except THROUGH HIM.” (John 1:3) “For BY HIM (Jesus) WERE ALL THINGS CREATED, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created BY HIM, AND FOR HIM: And He is before all things, and BY HIM ALL THINGS CONSIST.” (Colossians 1:16-17)
Why does the Lord reveal all of this to us? “O LORD, you have SEARCHED ME AND KNOWN ME! You are acquainted with ALL MY WAYS.” So, we sill understand that the Lord knows EVERYTHING about us. “You WATCHED ME as I you formed me together in my mother’s womb. You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was RECORDED IN YOUR BOOK. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed. How precious are your thoughts about me, O God…” (Psalms 139:1-3, 15-17)
