“…THE LORD HATES: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are quick to rush into evil, a false witness who pours out lies and a person who stirs up conflict in the community.” (Prov. 6:16-19) Then at the judgement: “Anyone whose name was not written in the Book of Life was thrown into the lake of fire.” (Rev. 20:15)
You might be tempted to say, “I am safe, I have not done any of these” but: “…ALL HAVE SINNED and fall short of the glory of God…Therefore, just as sin came into the world through one man (Adam), and death through sin, and so death spread to all men BECAUSE ALL SINNED” (Rom. 3:23, 5:12)
You see, we are born into sin, it is in our DNA! Adam and Eve chose to disobey God (when they had it all). The devil lied to them and convinced them to disobey God. “So when the woman saw that the tree was a tree desirable to make one wise, she ate... gave to her Adam and he ate.” (Gen. 3:6) Then “sin” became a part of their nature, because God commanded, “Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat; but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil YOU SHALL NOT EAT OF IT, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.”(Genesis 2:16-17) so all who are born, inherit this sin nature. So, what is our remedy to rid ourselves of this nature? “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but HAVE ETERNAL LIFE.” (John 3:16) We are forgiven but we need to get rid of the sin nature, through sanctification, “…our old self was CRUCIFIED WITH CHRIST so that it would put an end to sin in our bodies…” (Rom. 6:6)
