I’LL OBEY YOU LORD…

“…Then Jesus got into one of the boats, which was Simon’s, and asked him to put out a little from the land. And HE SAT DOWN AND TAUGHT THE MULTITUDES FROM THE BOAT. When He had stopped speaking, He said to Simon, “Launch out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch.” But Simon answered and said to Him, “Master, we have toiled all night and caught nothing; NEVERTHELESS AT YOUR WORD I WILL LET DOWN THE NET.” (Luke 5:3-5)

This is a great statement of faith. Think about it for a minute. Peter was a commercial fisherman. He wasn’t fishing for fun; he was fishing to survive, to put food on the table. He and his crew had been out all night and they caught nothing. Peter was a professional. He knew where the fish were. And he also knew that there are no fish out in the middle of the lake in the middle of the day. So, when Peter said, “…at your word I will let down the net What an important statement of faith! “…when they had done this, THEY CAUGHT A GREAT NUMBER OF FISH, and their net was breaking. So they signaled to their partners in the other boat to come and help them. And they came and FILLED BOTH THE BOATS, so that they began to sink. (Luke 5:6-7)

OH LORD, WHAT WILL IT TAKE FOR US TO LEARN TO TRUST IN YOU?
