David was betrayed by a very close friend BENITA, so he says, “…it is NOT AN ENEMY who reproaches me; Then I could bear it. Nor is it ONE WHO HATES ME who has exalted himself against me; Then I could hide from him. But IT WAS YOU, a man my equal, MY COMPANION AND MY ACQUAINTANCE…” (Psa. 55:12-15)
So, how do I respond to this wrong done to me? “I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature. I want to do what is right, BUT I CAN’T. I want to do what is good, BUT I DON’T.” (Rom. 7:18-19) Then sanctification (when we are sanctified) came and, “…the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has MADE ME FREE FROM THE LAW OF SIN AND DEATH. For what the law COULD NOT DO in that it was weak through the flesh, God did by SENDING HIS OWN SON in the likeness of sinful flesh, on account of sin: HE CONDEMNED SIN IN THE FLESH, that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh but ACCORDING TO THE SPIRIT.” (Rom. 8:2-4)
David closes out the above by saying, “As for me, I will call upon God, And the LORD shall save me. (save me from acting out in the flesh by being sanctified)” (Psa. 55:12-16)
