David was inspired by the Spirit of the Lord to write, “I have HIDDEN (tsâphan: to treasure or store up) YOUR WORD in my heart that I might not sin against you.” (Psa. 119:11) Why is the Word referred to as a treasure? David said Your Word is, “…more desirable than gold, even THE FINEST GOLD.” (Psa. 19:10) When John describes the heavenly “City of God” he says, “the main street was PURE GOLD, as clear as glass.” (Rev. 21:21) Oh yes, one more extremely important thing about the Word, “In the beginning was the WORD, and the WORD was with God, and the WORD WAS (and still is of course) GOD.” (John 1:1)
Just so we are informed, “I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse. And He who sat on him was called Faithful and True…He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called THE WORD OF GOD.” (Rev. 19:11-13) Our tiny human minds cannot comprehend that in the beginning, Jesus was the WORD that came out of the mouth of God and “…the WORD BECAME FLESH and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.” (John 1:14) God’s Word is so important, that is why God commanded Moses to tell us, “And these words which I command you today shall be in YOUR HEART. You shall TEACH THEM diligently to your children, and shall TALK OF THEM when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up…You shall WRITE THEM on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.” (Deut. 6:6-9) We do this because, “…the word of God is ALIVE and POWERFUL. It is SHARPER than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It EXPOSES our innermost thoughts and desires.” (Heb. 4:12)
So, the reason we HIDE GOD’S WORD IN OUR HEART is because it is the most VALUABLE and the most POWERFUL force there is! The problem we face today is “Satan, who is the god of this world, has BLINDED THE MINDS of those who don’t believe. They are unable to see the glorious light of the Good News. They don’t understand this message about THE GLORY OF CHRIST, who is the exact likeness of God.” (2 Corin. 4:4) When Satan went into the garden to tempt Adam and Eve, he said “Did God really say you must not eat the fruit from ANY OF THE TREES in the garden?” (Gen. 3:1) Well, Jesus told us, Satan’s first words were lies that’s because, “When he lies, it is consistent with his character; for he is a liar and THE FATHER OF LIES.” (John 8:44) Have his lies been successful? There are NO MORE PRAYERS in our schools, students are discouraged in many schools from bringing their bibles to school. The 10 Commandments have BEEN REMOVED from many locations.
