“I have hidden YOUR WORD in my heart that I might not SIN against you.” (Psa. 119:11) The word “hidden” means to hide away as a GREAT TREASURE. The Lords precious, of LIMITLESS VALUE, words should be considered great treasures and hidden away… in our hearts! This is important for what lies ahead.
The Lord humbled you, “…that He might make you know that man shall not live by bread alone; but man LIVES BY EVERY WORD that proceeds from the mouth of the LORD.” (Deut. 8:3)
WHY IS “GOD’S WORD” SO VALUED?
- IT IS LIVING: “…the word of God is 1ALIVE and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword…It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.” (Heb. 4:12) 1zaō: to live, breathe, be among the living. The Word of God is not just printed words! It is FULL OF LIFE and brings life into our being as we read it. The word of God is like a seed, “The seed is the WORD OF GOD.” (Luke 8:11) “…the seed sown on good ground, are those who hear the WORD, accept it, and bear fruit: some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some a hundred.” (Mark 4:20)
- IT IS FULL OF POWER: For the Lord it is not difficult to heal the sick, bring freedom to the captives and provide for the needs of His children. This is His nature and He does all these things by His Word. “Is not My word like a FIRE?” says the LORD, “And like a HAMMER that breaks the rock in pieces?” (Jer. 23:29) “By the word of the LORD the heavens were made…” (Psa. 33:6) “For the word of God is POWERFUL…” (Heb. 4:12) The sun is 864,938 miles in diameter if the sun were hollow, it would take about one million Earths to fill it. The very hot center of the Sun reaches about 27,000,000° Fahrenheit. On the 4th day of creation, “…God made two great lights: the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night. He made the stars also. God set them in the firmament of the heavens to give light on the earth, and to divide the light from the darkness. And God saw that it was good.” (Gen. 1:16-18) They were just simply spoken into existence.
- IT IS THE BREATH OF GOD: “All Scripture is GOD–BREATHED and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness…” (2 Tim. 3:16) Man was the only living creature who was not spoken into existence, “…the LORD God formed a man from the dust of the ground and BREATHED into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.” (Gen. 2:7) “…there is a spirit in man, And the BREATH of the Almighty gives him understanding.” (Job 32:8) “Jesus said “Peace to you! And when He had said this, He BREATHED on them, and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit.” (John 20:21-22)
