Jesus says, “Behold, I stand at the door AND KNOCK. If anyone hears My voice and OPENS THE DOOR, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.” (Rev. 3:20)
- FIRST, Jesus will not come in, unless WE OPEN THE DOOR, even though, Jesus has an all access key, “These are the words of Him who is holy and true, who HOLDS THE KEY OF DAVID. What He opens NO ONE CAN SHUT, and what He shuts NO ONE CAN OPEN.” (Rev. 3:7) The only other reference to this powerful key is in the book of Isaiah, “I will call my servant Eliakim son of Hilkiah…I will dress him in your royal robes and will give him your title and your authority. I will give him THE KEY TO THE HOUSE OF DAVID—the highest position in the royal court. When he opens doors, NO ONE will be able to close them; when he closes doors, NO ONE will be able to open them.” (Isa. 22:20-22) All we know about this key is that it will open any door but Jesus will not force our door open, we have to open it and invite Him in…
- SECONDLY, Jesus says, “I will come in and dine with you…” Just what does that mean? Jesus said, “I tell you the truth, Moses didn’t give you bread from heaven. My Father did. And now He offers you the TRUE BREAD from heaven. The true bread of God is THE ONE who comes down from heaven and GIVES LIFE to the world.” “Sir,” they said, “give us that bread every day.” Jesus replied, “I AM THE BREAD OF LIFE. Whoever comes to me will NEVER BE HUNGRY Whoever believes in me will NEVER BE THIRSTY…For it is my Father’s will that all who SEE His Son and BELIEVE IN HIM should HAVE ETERNAL LIFE. I will RAISE THEM UP at the last day.” (John 6:32-35, 40)
