The disciples questioned Jesus about the end times, “Teacher, when will these things happen? And what will be the sign when these things are about to take place? He replied, “Don’t let anyone mislead you, for many will come, claiming, ‘I am the Messiah,’ saying, ‘The time has come!’ But DON’T BELIEVE THEM. And when you hear of wars and uprisings, don’t panic. Yes, these things must take place first, but the end WON’T FOLLOW IMMEDIATELY.” (Luke 21:7-9)
Jesus warns us of the deception we face, “Be careful, or your hearts will be weighed down with CAROUSING (kraipalē: dizziness and headache caused by drinking wine to excess), DRUNKENNESS and the ANXIETIES OF LIFE, and that day will close on you suddenly LIKE A TRAP. For it will come on ALL THOSE who live on the face of the whole earth.” (Luke 21:34-35) The George Barna team says, Our studies reveal that younger Christians describe themselves as far more tempted by alcohol abuse (28%) than any of their predecessors. “Wine produces mockers; alcohol leads to brawls. Those led astray by drink cannot be wise.” (Prov. 20:1) Jesus tells us that these temptations will come on ALL OF US!!!
Jesus prayed this prayer for us as His followers, “Now I am no longer in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to You. Holy Father, KEEP through Your name those whom You have given Me, that THEY MAY BE ONE AS WE ARE ONE.” (John 17:11)
