Job’s lament reflects a universal human experience of SEEKING DIVINE PRESENCE and understanding, especially during times of distress or confusion. It highlights the struggle to find meaning and comfort in faith WHEN FACED WITH LIFE’S CHALLENGES. All of Job’s many possessions had been taken from him, his 10 children were taken, his health was taken, he was sitting out in the garbage heap scraping his “boils” off of his body. And then his so called “comforters” came and piled silly accusations upon him. And “Job spoke again: “My complaint today is still a bitter one, and I try hard not to groan aloud. IF ONLY I KNEW WHERE TO FIND GOD, I would go to His court. I would lay out my case and present my arguments. Then I would listen to His reply and understand what He says to me. Would He use His great power to argue with me? No, He would give me a fair hearing. Honest people can reason with Him, so I would be forever acquitted by my judge. I go east, but He is not there. I go west, but I cannot find Him. I do not see Him in the north, for He is hidden. I look to the south, but He is concealed. “But HE KNOWS WHERE I AM GOING. And WHEN HE TESTS ME, I WILL COME OUT AS PURE AS GOLD.” (Job 23:1-10)
Our definition of existence is limited to a point in time and a physical location. God is not bound by those same restrictions. He has always existed and is “omnipresent.” Merriam-Webster defines omnipresence as “present in all places at all times.” Basically, God is everywhere. There’s no place on earth where He is absent. God said, “Can anyone hide from me in a secret place? AM I NOT EVERYWHERE in all the heavens and earth?” (Jeremiah 23:24).
WHEN WE ARE FACED WITH LIFES CHALLENGS REMEMBER GOD IS ALWAYS RIGHT THERE, HE WILL NEVER LEAVE US OR FORSAKE US.
