GAZING ON HIS BEAUTY…

One thing I have desired of the LORD, That will I seek: That I may dwell in the house of the LORD ALL THE DAYS OF MY LIFE, To behold the beauty of the LORD, And to inquire in His temple. For in the time of trouble He shall hide me in His pavilion; In the secret place of His tabernacle He shall hide meWhen You said, SEEK MY FACE,” My heart said to You, “Your face, LORD, I WILL SEEK.” (Psa. 27:4-8)

David’s firm decision puts the idea of God’s face at the heart of the structure of this psalm. He explains why he desires to look at God’s face: TO GAZE ON THE BEAUTY OF THE LORD AND TO SEEK (pursue) HIM(v. 4) and to “see the GOODNESS ( ṭûb: beauty, joy, prosperity) of the LORD (v. 13). David begins the conversation with this statement, Though a mighty army SURROUNDS ME, my heart will not be afraid. Even if I am attacked, I WILL REMAIN CONFIDENT. The one thing I ask of the LORD—is to live in the house of the LORD all the days of my lifeFor He will CONCEAL ME there when troubles come; He will HIDE ME in His sanctuary. He will place me OUT OF REACH on a high rock. (Psa. 27:3-5)
