“…as Jesus was alone praying, His disciples joined Him, and He asked them, saying, “Who do the crowds say that I am?” So they answered and said, “John the Baptist, but some say Elijah; and others say that one of the old prophets has risen again.” He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” Peter answered and said, “THE CHRIST OF GOD.” (Luke 9:18-20) “Jesus answered and said to him, “BLESSED ARE YOU, Simon, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but MY FATHER WHO IS IN HEAVEN.” (Matt. 16:17)
Peter received divine revelation from the Lord about who Jesus is. So, in that moment Peter understood that Jesus is the Christ of God! “From that time Jesus began to show that He must go and SUFFER MANY THINGS AND BE KILLED, and be raised the third day. Then Peter took Him aside and BEGAN TO REBUKE HIM, saying, “Far be it from You, Lord; THIS SHALL NOT HAPPEN TO YOU!” But He turned and said to Peter, “GET BEHIND ME, SATAN! You are an offense to Me, for you are not mindful of the things of God, but the things of men.” (Matt. 16:21-23)
