Paul teaches us that we should, “FOLLOW his example, just as he FOLLOWS THE EXAMPLE OF CHRIST.” (1 Corinthians 11:1)
THIS SHOULD BE OUR MANTRA AS WE SUBMIT OUR LIVES TO JESUS CHRIST…
- ACCEPT GOD’S LOVE. “In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent His ONLY BEGOTTEN SON into the world, that we might LIVE THROUGH HIM. Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that HE LOVED US, and sent His Son to be the propitiation (hilasmos: an offering to appease our sins) for our sins” (1 John 4:9, 10).
- CONFESS AND REPENT OF YOUR SINS. “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to FORGIVE us our sins, and to CLEANSE us from all unrighteousness.” (1 John 1:9).
- RECEIVE SALVATION BY FAITH. Believe that: Christ died for you “That He…should taste death for every man.” (Hebrews 2:9), Christ forgives you (1 John 1:9), and Christ saves you from eternal death “He that believes on me has everlasting life…” (John 6:47).
- EXPERIENCE THE MIRACLE OF CHANGED LIFE. “Therefore, if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, ALL THINGS ARE BECOME NEW.” (2 Corinthians 5:17).
- OBEY GOD’S COMMANDMENTS BY HIS GRACE AND POWER. Jesus said, “If ye love Me, keep MY COMMANDMENTS…” (John 14:15). The Ten Commandments are listed in Exodus 20. As Christians we don’t keep the commandments to be saved but we keep the commandments because WE ARE SAVED.
- CONFESS YOUR FAITH TO OTHERS. “If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” (Romans 10:9).
