“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am GENTLE and HUMBLE in heart, and you will FIND REST for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” (Matt. 11:28-30) When Jesus said, “Take my yoke upon you” AMY, He meant that we are to submit ourselves to Him every day in every way. A yoke was communicating the idea that are in submission to the Lord.
Herod put James to death, he saw how this made people happy so he capture Peter, “The night before Herod was to bring him to trial, Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains (like being in a yoke of bondage), and sentries stood guard at the entrance.” (Acts 12:6) This looked like the end of Peter’s ministry, “…but the church was earnestly praying to God for him.” (Acts 12:5)
Remember AMY: “…The effectual fervent (energeō: be mighty in) prayer of a righteous man avails (ischyō: to exercise force) much.” (Jam. 5:16) “Suddenly an angel of the Lord appeared and a light shone in the cell. He struck Peter on the side and woke him up. “Quick, get up!” he said, and the chains fell off Peter’s wrists.” (Acts 12:7) Because of PRAYERS, Peter’s life was saved and he went on and did marvelous works.
