Look at this wonderful prayer the apostle Paul prays for us, ”I fall to my knees and pray to the Father, the Creator of everything in heaven and on earth. I pray that from His glorious, unlimited resources He will EMPOWER YOU with inner strength through His Spirit. Then Christ will MAKE HIS HOME IN YOUR HEARTS as you trust in Him. Your roots will GROW DOWN into God’s love and KEEP YOU STRONG.” (Eph. 3:14-17)
JUST THINK OF THESE WONDERFUL PROMISES BEING FULFILLED IN US:
- EMPOWER US WITH INNER STRENGTH THROUGH THE HOLY SPIRIT. There is power inside of us, power to be discovered and used, the true source of that inner power is the Spirit of God.
- MAKE HIS HOME IN OUR HEARTS. In order to build a home in us, Christ must have the material. On the one hand, this material is Christ Himself as the element; on the other hand, this material includes something from our qualities that make us human.
- OUR ROOTS WILL GROW DOWN INTO GOD’S LOVE. This tells me that the more we seek God through prayer and spending time with Him, the more He will come into our heart and make our heart His home. This will indeed change us from the inside out as we become more and more like Christ, our ultimate goal.
- WE WILL BE KEPT STRONG IN THE LORD. From Paul’s own experience, he knew the opposition is real and the warfare intense: “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore, put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand, stand…” (Eph. 6:12–13).
Let’s live out this prayer and make ourselves something for Jesus…
