“…faith is the SUBSTANCE (hypostasis: that which has foundation) of things hoped for, the EVIDENCE (elegchos: that by which a thing is proved) of things not seen. By faith we understand that the worlds were FRAMED BY THE WORD OF GOD, so that the things WHICH ARE SEEN were NOT MADE OF THINGS WHICH ARE VISIBLE.” (Heb. 11:1-3) Everything we observe from plant life, stars, animals, rocks, air, and water—virtually everything—is composed of 90 naturally occurring building blocks known as ATOMS. An atom is the smallest unit into which matter can be divided. About 5 million hydrogen atoms could fit into a pin head. So the writer of Hebrews described accurately that the things we can see, were created by God, from things too small for us to see.
Darwin’s theory of human descent from nonhuman forms of life raises questions about traditional beliefs in human uniqueness, such as the biblical claim that human beings are created by God who said, “Let Us make man in OUR IMAGE, according to OUR LIKENESS;” (Gen 1:26) Charles Darwin claimed that species were not created by God, but were the product of a blind, mechanical process that altered them over the course of millions of years. This alone was pure heresy. Darwin, did not believe a single word of the biblical story of creation. Interestingly, Darwin went to Cambridge University to study for the priesthood. Darwin himself confessed that it was “absurd” to propose that THE VERY COMPLEX HUMAN EYE EVOLVED through spontaneous mutation and natural selection.
The Lord reminds us this about faith, “…without faith IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO PLEASE GOD, for he who comes to God must BELIEVE that HE IS, and that HE IS a REWARDER of those who DILIGENTLY SEEK HIM.” (Heb. 11:6)
