“…TO BE CARNALLY (sarx: the earthly nature of man without divine influence) MINDED IS DEATH (thanatos: spiritual death), BUT TO BE SPIRITUALLY MINDED IS LIFE (zōē: life which belongs to God) AND PEACE. Because THE CARNAL MIND IS ENMITY (echthes: hatred) AGAINST GOD; for it is NOT SUBJECT TO THE LAW OF GOD, nor indeed can be. So then, those who are in the flesh CANNOT PLEASE GOD. But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone DOES NOT HAVE THE SPIRIT OF CHRIST, HE IS NOT HIS. And if Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also GIVE LIFE (zōopoieō: hastened to spiritual life) TO YOUR MORTAL BODIES through His Spirit who dwells in you.” (Romans 8:6-11)
To be carnally minded means that that person is SPIRITUALLY DEAD and “…the natural man DOES NOT RECEIVE THE THINGS OF THE SPIRIT OF GOD, for they are foolishness to him; they can’t understand them, because they are SPIRITUALLY RECOGNIZED.” (1 Corinthians 2:14) Another example of this is shown in this illustration, “Jesus will separate the people as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. He will place the SHEEP at his right hand and the GOATS at His left.” (Matthew 25:32-33) “Then He will welcome the sheep to be with Him because THEY DID WHAT HE ASKED THEM TO DO and say to them, Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the Kingdom prepared for you!” Then he will turn to the ‘goats,’ the ones on His left, and say, ‘Get out, worthless goats! You’re good for nothing but the fires of hell. For when you REFUSED TO HELP the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were refusing to help Me.” (Matthew 25:41-45)
