“…brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may RUN SWIFTLY AND BE GLORIFIED…” (2 Thess. 3:1) Paul’s prayer request: May the Word SPREAD QUICKLY and be held in honor by all. Paul asked the Thessalonians to join him in praying that the gospel would go out UNHINDERED and be ACCEPTED, just as the Thessalonians had accepted it. This is the Word of the Lord Isaiah received, “…as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways and thoughts than your ways and thoughts. “For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven, And DO NOT RETURN there, But waters the earth, And makes it bring forth and bud, That it may give seed to the sower And bread to the eater, SO SHALL MY WORD BE that goes forth from My mouth; It shall NOT RETURN to Me VOID, (without cause) But IT SHALL ACCOMPLISH what I please, And IT SHALL PROSPER in the thing for which I sent it. “For you shall GO OUT WITH JOY, And be LED OUT WITH PEACE; The mountains and the hills Shall BREAK FORTH into singing before you, And all the trees of the field SHALL CLAP their hands.” (Isaiah 55:9-12)
The reason the WORD needs to run swiftly WILL, is:
- It will never return unfulfilled.
- It will always accomplishing its purpose.
- It will always prosper in its goal.
- It will bring peace to the one spreading it.
- We will go out with great joy speaking the gospel.
- Nature will respond by breaking forth in song and clapping its hands.
Jesus said, “Go into all the world and PREACH THE GOSPEL to all creation.” (Mark 16:15)
