Jesus emphatically makes this statement! “Very truly I tell you, WHOEVER BELIEVES IN ME WILL DO the works I have been doing, and they WILL DO EVEN GREATER THINGS than these, because I am going to the Father. And I WILL DO WHATEVER YOU ASK in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. You may ASK ME FOR ANYTHING in my name, and I will do it.” (John 14:12-14)
JUST TO CLARIFY, JESUS SAYS, “WHOEVER BELIEVES IN ME WILL”:
- DO THE WORKS I HAVE BEEN DOING.
- DO EVEN GREATER THINGS THAT THESE.
- ASK WHATEVER YOU WANT IN MY NAME, I WILL DO IT.
- ASK ME FOR ANYTHING AND I WILL DO IT.
First of all, is there any evidence that this actually happened? “The apostles were performing many miraculous signs and wonders among the people…sick people were brought out into the streets on beds and mats so that Peter’s shadow might fall across some of them. Crowds came, bringing their sick and those possessed by evil spirits, and THEY WERE ALL HEALED.” (Acts 5:12-16)
I think today most of us are like the man who brought his demon possessed boy and the disciples could not cast it out. So, Jesus said to the father of the child, “How long has this been happening?” the father replied, “Since he was a little boy. The spirit often throws him into the fire or into water, trying to kill him. Have mercy on us and help us, if you can.” “What do you mean, ‘IF I CAN’?” Jesus asked. “Anything is possible if a person BELIEVES.” The father instantly cried out, “I do believe, but HELP ME OVERCOME MY UNBELIEF!” (Mark 9:21-24) I do not believe the Lord would inspire me to write about this unless “unbelief” is a problem today, So, I believe we need to FAST AND PRAY, “I believe, help my unbelief.” Because Jesus said, “This kind can come out by nothing but PRAYER AND FASTING.“ (Mark 9:29)
