“…I will not trust in my bow, Nor shall my sword save me. But YOU LORD, HAVE SAVED US FROM OUR ENEMIES, And have put to shame those who hated us. IN GOD WE BOAST ALL DAY LONG, And praise Your name forever. Selah…Our heart has NOT TURNED BACK, NOR have our STEPS DEPARTED FROM YOUR WAY…” (Psa. 44:6-8, 18) Think about this my dear brothers and sisters, “God OPPOSES (antitassomai: to range in battle against) the proud but gives GRACE TO THE HUMBLE.” (1 Peter 5:5)
The sin of pride is powerful sin. It was this sin, which transformed Lucifer, an anointed cherub of God, the very “seal of perfection, full of wisdom and perfect in beauty,” (Ezekiel 28:12) into Satan, the devil, “the father of lies, the one for whom Hell itself was created” (Matt 25:41). We’re warned to guard our hearts against pride lest we too, “fall into the same condemnation as the devil.” (1 Tim. 3:6) So we must be, “…sober, and vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom HE MAY DEVOUR.” (1 Peter 5:8) He would love to fill our hearts with pride, so we must… “Submit yourselves to God. Resist the devil, and HE WILL FLEE FROM YOU.” (James 4:7)
WE MUST RESIST PRIDE AND SEEK THE GRACE OF GOD…
