When something is STALE it becomes tasteless and unpleasant, like stale bread; You can still eat it, if there’s no mold on it, but it’ll be tough and dry. Gone is that crunchy crust and moist inside. Instead, you’ll need to chew your bread extensively, and literally tear it apart. We do not want our Christian life to be like that, so we must grow and BE FRESH in our relationship with Christ. “Jesus said, “COME TO ME, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I WILL GIVE YOU REST (so you can be refreshed). Take my yoke upon you and LEARN FROM ME, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and THE BURDEN, I GIVE YOU IS LIGHT.” (Matt. 11:28-30)
It’s interesting to me that most people know they should be growing spiritually, but yet they aren’t taking the necessary steps to make sure that it’s happening. SO, HERE IS GODLY HOPE, “His divine power has given us EVERYTHING WE NEED for a GODLY LIFE through our knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and goodness. Through these He has given us His very great and precious promises, so that through them YOU MAY PARTICIPATE IN THE DIVINE NATURE, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires. For this very reason, make every effort to add to your FAITH goodness; and to GOODNESS, knowledge; and to KNOWLEDGE, self-control; and to SELF-CONTROL, perseverance; and to PERSEVERANCE, godliness; and to GODLINESS, mutual affection; and to MUTUAL AFFECTION, AGAPĒ. For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive (STALE) in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ…Therefore, brethren, be all the more diligent to make certain about His calling and choosing you; for as long as you practice these things, YOU WILL NEVER STUMBLE” (2 Peter 1:3-8, 10)
