“You have commanded us To 1keep Your precepts (teachings) diligently (thoroughly). Oh, that my ways were directed To keep Your statutes (rulings)! THEN I WOULD NOT BE ASHAMED, When I look into all Your commandments.” (Psa. 119:4-6) 1shâmar: preserve, protect. Just why is it so important for us to preserve and protect the teachings of the Lord? Jesus said, “If you love Me, KEEP MY 2COMMANDMENTS.” (John 14:15) 2entolé: the moral teachings of Christ. Our main reason for KEEPING THEM is, out of love (this is agape love, which is considered to be the love originating from Christ for humankind. Agape love is selfless, sacrificial, and unconditional. Agape love extends beyond emotions. It’s much more than a feeling or sentiment. Agape love is active. It demonstrates love through our actions.)
Jesus says, “He who DOES NOT LOVE ME DOES NOT KEEP MY WORDS...” (John 14:24) What this says is that our Love for Jesus is demonstrated by our actively obeying His word. “For this reason we also thank God without ceasing, because when you received the word of God…you welcomed it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, THE WORD OF GOD, WHICH ALSO EFFECTIVELY WORKS IN YOU WHO BELIEVE.” (1 Thess. 2:13) Ok WILL, we are to learn, keep, protect, love, live out and share the amazingly powerful Word of God. When I was miraculously saved, I was working as a design engineer, with other engineering’s. I felt the desire to share with them what had happened to me. My thinking was that I could relate to them on an intellectual level which did not work. The Lord revealed to me that His Word was ALIVE AND VERY POWERFUL so, I began sharing the scriptures with them with amazing results.
