“Let US HOLD 1FAST THE CONFESSION OF OUR HOPE WITHOUT 2WAVERING, for He who promised is faithful; 1katechō: to have in full and secure possession. 2Aklinēs: not declining, steady. The writer is telling us that we must steadily and securely hold the confession of our hope in Jesus Christ our Lord, because the devil will do all he can to TAKE THAT HOPE AWAY FROM US…
…let us consider how to STIMULATE ONE ANOTHER TO LOVE AND GOOD DEEDS, NOT FORSAKING OUR OWN ASSEMBLING TOGETHER, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day drawing near.” (Heb. 10:23-25)
It is crystal clear in this text, that God means for us to aim consciously at something significant for our day. God’s revealed will for us is that when we get up in the morning, we don’t drift aimlessly through the day letting mere circumstances alone dictate what we do, but that we aim at something. Aimlessness is like lifelessness. Dead leaves in the back yard may move around more than anything else — The wind blows, they go whatever way it’s blowing. They tumble, they bounce, they skip, they press against a fence, but they have no aim whatsoever. They are full of motion and empty of life. So, Lord, show me what you would have me do today?
“For this I toil, struggling with all HIS energy that HE POWERFULLY WORKS WITHIN ME.” (Col. 1:29)
