“As obedient children, DO NOT CONFORM to the evil desires you had WHEN YOU LIVED IN IGNORANCE [agnoeó: ignorance especially of divine things]. But just as he who called you is holy, so BE HOLY IN ALL YOU DO…Since you call on a Father who judges each person’s work impartially, live out your time as FOREIGNERS HERE IN REVERENT FEAR. For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that YOU WERE REDEEMED…but with THE PRECIOUS BLOOD OF CHRIST, a lamb without blemish or defect.” (1 Pet. 1:14-19)
We are being instructed to be holy just as God is holy, no longer conforming to the evil desires we once had but in reverent fear, GIVING OUR ALL for the work of Jesus Christ our Lord who redeemed us with His precious blood. We are referred to as foreigners, why? Jesus said: “If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own…YOU DO NOT BELONG TO THE WORLD, but I have chosen you OUT OF THE WORLD …Father… THEY ARE NOT OF THE WORLD, even as I am not of it.” (John 15:19, 17:16)
THE WORLD IS NOT OUR HOME WE’RE ONLY PASSING THROUGH…
