Job was a very wealthy man but now has lost all he possessed, including his seven sons and three daughters. Now Job is mourning the loss after falling down and worshiping God saying, “I came naked from my mother’s womb, and I will be naked when I leave. The LORD gave me what I had, and the LORD has taken it away. Praise the name of the LORD!” In all of this, Job DID NOT SIN BY BLAMING GOD.” (Job 1:21-22)
“When three of Job’s friends heard of the tragedy he had suffered, they got together and traveled from their homes to comfort and console him. Their names were Eliphaz the Temanite, Bildad the Shuhite, and Zophar the Naamathite.” (Job 2:11) The problem is they did not try to comfort Job they tried to convince Job that the only way something like this could happen is if you have done some horrible sin. Eliphaz speaks up and says this to Job, “Stop and think! Do the innocent die? When have the upright been destroyed? My experience shows that those who PLANT TROUBLE and CULTIVATE EVIL will HARVEST the same.” (Job 4:7-8)
This went on and on they just continued to hassle Job into confessing his sin, which he did not do! So Job says, “But as for me, I know that my Redeemer lives, and He will stand upon the earth at last. And after my body has decayed, yet in my body I WILL SEE GOD! I will see Him for myself. Yes, I will see Him with my own eyes. I am overwhelmed at the thought!” (Job 19:25-27)
So WILL, at the end of all this putting Job down and “…the LORD said to Eliphaz the Temanite: “I am angry with you and your two friends, for you have not spoken accurately about me, as my servant Job has. So take seven bulls and seven rams and go to my servant Job and offer a burnt offering for yourselves. My servant Job will pray for you, and I WILL ACCEPT HIS PRAYER on your behalf. I will not treat you as you deserve, for you have not spoken accurately about me, as my servant Job has.” (Job 42:7-8)
We have to remember to be a comfort and pray for those who are hurting…
