“Suppose your very own brother or sister secretly tempts you TO DO SOMETHING WRONG. Or your child or the WIFE YOU LOVE tempts you. Or your closest friend does it. Suppose one of them says, “Let’s go and worship other gods.” (Deut. 13:6)
Let’s take a moment and examine our faithfulness to God, do we really love the Lord our God with our all? Remember Adam, the devil used his wife, Eve, to convince Adam to eat of the forbidden fruit! Adam, having been hand made by God and clearly spoken to by God:
“…you MUST NOT EAT the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. If you do, you can BE SURE THAT YOU WILL DIE.” (Gen. 2:17)
Now, Adam was a very intelligent and wise man who seemed to really love the Lord, so, why did he disobey God?
“So, when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was to be desired to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate, and she also gave some to her husband WHO WAS WITH HER, and he ate.” (Gen. 3:6)
Eve saw that the fruit would make them wise it was very pleasing to look at and surely would taste good so, SHE TOOK AND ATE and gave some to Adam, what was he to do? He TOOK AND ATE!!! What were the consequences of this blatant act of disobedience?
“For since death came through a man…For as in Adam all die…” (1 Corin. 15:21-22)
Just to be clear…
“Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man…death came to all people, because ALL SINNED.” (Rom. 5:12)
You see, that one simple foolish act of disobedience caused ALL MANKIND to inherit the sin nature! Now that my dear loved ones, should be a warning to us that we must be:
“…BUILDING YOURSELVES UP in your most holy faith and PRAYING IN THE HOLY SPIRIT, KEEP YOURSELVES IN GOD’S LOVE as you wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life.” (Jude 1:20-21)
