The devil tempts us because he does NOT want us to draw closer to God.
The Church was experience awesome miracles and amazing growth, “a man named Ananias, with his wife Sapphira, sold property, together they kept back some of the proceeds and brought ONLY A PART OF IT (they had committed all of it) and laid it at the apostles’ feet. Peter said, “Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart TO LIE to the Holy Spirit (God revealed to Peter how much was committed) and to KEEP BACK FOR YOURSELF part of the proceeds? While it remained unsold, did it not remain your own? And after it was sold, was it not at your disposal? Why is it that you have contrived this deed in your heart? You have NOT LIED TO MAN BUT TO GOD.” When Ananias heard these words, HE FELL DOWN AND BREATHED HIS LAST. And GREAT FEAR CAME UPON ALL who heard of it.” (Acts 5:1-5) DO NOT LIE TO GOD!
Sapphira finally came in and, “Peter said to her, “Tell me whether you sold the land for so much.” she said, “Yes, for so much.” Peter said, “How is it that you have agreed together to test the Spirit of the Lord? Behold, the feet of those who have buried your husband are at the door, and they will carry you out.” IMMEDIATELY SHE FELL DOWN AND BREATHED HER LAST. When the young men came in and they carried her out and buried her beside her husband.” (Acts 5:8-10)
God is omniscient it means that He has PERFECT KNOWLEDGE of all things. He does not have to learn anything and He has not forgotten anything. God does not have to reason things out, find out things, or learn them gradually. He knows EVERYTHING THAT HAS HAPPENED and EVERYTHING THAT WILL HAPPEN. God also knows EVERY POTENTIAL THING THAT MIGHT HAPPEN. God even knows those things that humankind has yet to discover. This knowledge is absolute and unacquired. The omniscience of God means that He has perfect KNOWLEDGE, perfect UNDERSTANDING, and perfect WISDOM as to how to apply the knowledge.
