“Remind the people to…slander (insult) no one, to be peaceable and considerate, and always to be gentle toward everyone. At one time we too were foolish, disobedient, deceived and enslaved by all kinds of passions and pleasures. We lived in malice and envy, being hated and hating one another. But WHEN THE KINDNESS AND LOVE OF GOD OUR SAVIOR APPEARED, HE SAVED US, not because of righteous things we had done, but BECAUSE OF HIS MERCY. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit…” (Titus 3:1-5)
Mahatma Gandhi famously (and sadly) said: “I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ.” Gandhi (1869-1946) was the leader of the Indian independence movement against British rule. That is why Paul said don’t insult one another, instead be considerate, peaceful and gentile. He reminded us that we were deceived and disobedient, hating one another, so unlike Christ…Then Paul reminded us about the kindness and love of Jesus Christ our Lord appearing, how He then SAVED US BECAUSE OF HIS AWESOME MERCY!!!
THANK GOD, WE ARE WASHED IN THE BLOOD…
