“Do you not know that THE UNRIGHTEOUS WILL NOT INHERIT THE KINGDOM OF GOD? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God. And SUCH WERE SOME OF YOU. But you were WASHED, but you were SANCTIFIED, but you were JUSTIFIED in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God.” (1 Corin. 6:9-11)
BENITA, SOME OF YOU WERE LIKE THIS BUT YOU ARE:
- WASHED: That is, we must walk in all openness and transparency before God, acknowledging our sinfulness. The blood of the Lamb of God will “keep cleansing” us. Like a perennial river running over the pebbles we are under the cleansing stream of Immanuel’s blood. “…if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and THE BLOOD of Jesus Christ His Son CLEANSES (WASHES) US FROM ALL SIN.” (1 John 1:7)
- SANCTIFIED: “By God’s will we are SANCTIFIED (set apart and made holy) through the offering of the BODY OF JESUS Christ once for all…For by one offering He has perfected forever those who are sanctified.” (Heb. 10:10-14)
- JUSTIFIED: “…having been JUSTIFIED (dikaioō: to declare, pronounce, one to be, righteous), by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.” (Rom. 5:1-2)
“Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ Himself? Shall I then take the members of Christ and unite them with a prostitute? Never…Do you not know that YOUR BODIES ARE TEMPLES OF THE HOLY SPIRIT, who is IN YOU, whom you have received from God? You are NOT YOUR OWN;” (1 Corin. 6:15, 19)
