“Be astonished, O heavens, at this, And be horribly afraid…says the LORD. “For My people have committed two evils: They have FORSAKEN ME, the fountain of living waters, And HEWN (carved) THEMSELVES CISTERNS—BROKEN CISTERNS that can hold no water.” (Jer. 2:12-13) We possibly, all have been guilty of trying to find solutions to our problems outside of asking God for help. God calls Himself here the “fountain of living waters,” so why do we go somewhere else for satisfaction and help besides Him? Most, if not all, addictive habits are the result of trying to satisfy a thirst IN OUR SOUL by some means other than God. Our ability to serve the Lord is directly proportional to our TRUST AND COMMITMENT TO HIM and His word. You see, that’s why it says “Be astonished, O heavens, at this, And be horribly afraid” because you have forsaken the Lord. How do we forsake Him? BY NOT CALLING ON HIM!!!
“Oh, LORD, please forgive us for being so easily pleased with the trinkets of this world. Give us eyes to clearly see, eternity, today! we ask this, in the name of Jesus.”
