“Everyone who sins is breaking God’s law, for ALL SIN is CONTRARY (is opposing) to the law of God. And you know that Jesus came to TAKE AWAY our sins, and there is NO SIN IN HIM. Anyone who continues to LIVE IN HIM WILL NOT SIN. But anyone who keeps on sinning DOES NOT KNOW HIM or understand who He is. Dear children, don’t let anyone deceive you about this: When people DO WHAT IS RIGHT, it shows that they are righteous, even as Christ is righteous.” (1 John 3:4-7)
When we commit sin we are opposing God, we become His enemy. God gave up His Son to pardon our sin so, we are no longer AN ENEMY of the Lord God Almighty. When we ask for forgiveness we begin to live in Christ and as long as we CONTINUE TO LIVE IN HIM we will be free from sin. What is very important for us to understand is, if we sin, we are no longer living in Christ because we cannot LIVE IN CHRIST and LIVE IN SIN at the same time because there is NO SIN IN CHRIST! If we sin we must repent (turn away from sin and ask forgiveness) and begin, once again, to live in Christ.
