1BEHOLD, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone HEARS MY VOICE and opens the door, I WILL COME IN TO HIM and dine with him, and he with Me. (Rev. 3:20) 1ἰδού: pay close attention, look, see this is essential. Jesus tells them, “I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hotSo then, because you are lukewarmI will VOMIT YOU out of My mouth.(Rev. 3:15-16)

Laodicea was a very wealthy city, not only was it located on major trade routes that connected it to other important cities like Ephesus, Smyrna and Sardis, but also it was a center of textile production and banking. So, like most of us today, we have access to almost anything WE WOULD EVER NEED!!! Therefore why would we have need of putting forth the effort to pray for and believe in miracles?

Paul answered the question like this, Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and REACHING FORWARD (with intensive prayers) to those things which are ahead, I PRESS TOWARD the goal for the prize of the UPWARD CALL of God in Christ Jesus.(Phil. 3:13-14)

Notice Jesus was standing “OUTSIDE” knocking. We don’t want Him to be “OUTSIDE.” Let’s OPEN THE DOOR and INVITE HIM IN.
