“Cast down imaginations [corrupted reasoning, STINKING THINKING], and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, and bring into captivity every thought TO THE OBEDIENCE OF CHRIST;” (2 Corin. 10:4-5). Paul taught us this: “…who has known the mind of the Lord…But WE HAVE THE MIND OF CHRIST.” (1 Corin. 2:16).
So AMY, you see the devil knows that we “have” the mind of Christ so he will attempt to corrupt our ability to reason with (stinking thinking) doubts and evil thoughts, to distract us from doing God’s will! When the devil attacks me in this way I remember how Jesus responded when He was asked ‘What is the greatest commandment?’
Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with ALL YOUR MIND.’ This is the first and greatest commandment.” (Matt. 22:37-38)
God has blessed us by giving us the mind of Christ and admonishing us to seize every thought AMY, to bring our thoughts into captivity to the obedience of Christ. “If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things WHICH ARE ABOVE, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. SET YOUR MIND ON THINGS ABOVE, not on things on the earth. For you died, and your life is HIDDEN WITH CHRIST in God. When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory.” (Col. 3:1-4)
God created us and knew us before we were created. He knows every part of us AMY, and we can never outrun Him or hide from Him. He loves us so much that it is beyond our understanding. “I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well. My frame (‛ôtsem: matter) was NOT HIDDEN FROM YOU, When I was made in secret, And skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed. And in YOUR BOOK THEY ALL WERE WRITTEN, The days fashioned for me, When as yet there were none of them.” (Psa. 139:14-16)
Let’s quit this ‘stinking thinking’ and set our minds on things above…
