“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you PRESENT YOUR BODIES A LIVING SACRIFICE, holy, acceptable TO GOD, which is your reasonable service.” (Rom. 12:1-2) Paul begged the Romans to present their bodies as a living sacrifice, it was something very significant. But what does it actually mean to give our bodies as a living sacrifice? Clearly Amanda, Paul was speaking figuratively, not literally. Jesus did it literally, “…when Christ came into the world, He said: “A BODY YOU PREPARED FOR ME; Here I am—I have COME TO DO YOUR WILL, my God.'” (Heb. 10:5-7) Jesus did not have a bodly form when He came to live on earth, a body had to be develpoed for Him just as it was for each of us.
Paul showed the great sacrifice Jesus made, “In your relationships with one another, have THE SAME MINDSET AS CHRIST Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, He MADE HIMSELF NOTHING by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, HE HUMBLED HIMSELF by becoming obedient to death— even death on a cross!” (Phil. 2:5-8)
Amanda to help us be humble like Him, our God, “…gives us more grace. “God opposes (antitassomai: to range in battle against) the proud but shows favor to the humble.” Submit yourselves, then, to God. RESIST (anthistēmi: to set one’s self against) THE DEVIL, and he will flee from you. Come near to God and He will COME NEAR TO YOU.” (James 4:6-8)
