ARE YOU WILLING TO OBEY?

Listen to the wisdom of the Lord, “These are the commands, that THE LORD YOUR GOD COMMANDED (tsâvâh: to be ordered) ME TO TEACH YOU (Deut. 6:1) Moses was commanded by God to teach the following because the Lord knew that there would be certain times in our or lives when we would be vulnerable to attacks on our minds from Satan. So, He said, you must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength. And you must COMMIT YOURSELVES wholeheartedly to THESE COMMANDS that I am giving you today. REPEAT them AGAIN and AGAIN to your children. TALK ABOUT THEM when you are AT HOME and when you are ON THE ROAD, when you are GOING TO BED and when you ARE GETTING UP. Write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.(Deut. 6:5-9) The idle times in our life is when the devil will most likely bother us.

WE FIND THE FOLLOWING IN (Deuteronomy 6:13-18):

  • YOU MUST FEAR THE LORD YOUR GOD AND SERVE HIM. To fear means to hold in awe and respect but also to be afraid of the consequences of un-repented disobedience to God.
  • YOU MUST NOT WORSHIP ANY IDOLS OF NEIGHBORING NATIONS.
  • YOU MUST NOT TEST THE LORD YOUR GOD. “…the devil took Jesus to the highest point of the Temple, and said, “If you are the Son of God, JUMP OFF! For the Scriptures say, ‘He will order his angels to protect you. And they will hold you up with their hands so you won’t even hurt your foot on a stone.’” Jesus responded, “The Scriptures also say, ‘You MUST NOT TEST THE LORD your God.’” (Matt. 4:5-7)
  • YOU MUST DILIGENTLY OBEY THE COMMANDS OF THE LORD YOUR GOD.
  • DO WHAT IS RIGHT AND GOOD IN THE LORD’S SIGHT.

IF WE DO THESE THINGS IT WILL ASSURE OUR PLACE IN ETERNITY WITH OUR LORD…
