“Blessed are those whose ways are blameless, who walk, following the instructions of the LORD.” (Psalms 119:1) “You shall walk in all the ways which the LORD your God has commanded you, that you may live and that it may be well with you.” (Deuteronomy 5:33)
Many Christians are willing to talk about their faith and about the Lord. Unfortunately, not all of those are obediently translating their faith into the actions and conduct commanded by the Lord. The number of those TALKING THE TALK includes some NOT WALKING THE WALK. Said another way, the “hearers only” of God’s Word are not the same as THE FAITHFUL DOERS OF THAT SAME WORD. This is not pleasing to God, and He deals with this issue extensively in the Scriptures. May the Lord lead each of us into a heartfelt self-examination.
“My little children, these things I write to you, so that YOU MAY NOT SIN. And if anyone sins, we have an ADVOCATE (paraklētos: intercessor, comforter, helper) with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous…He who says, “I KNOW HIM, (Jesus) ” and DOES NOT keep His commandments, IS A LIAR, and the truth is not in him.” (1 John 2:1-4)
The Word of God tells us that if we make that claim, “Those who say they live in God should LIVE THEIR LIVES AS JESUS DID.” (1 John 2:6) Is that something the believer can take an option on? NO! It is a biblical “must.” The true believer in the Lord must strive to WALK THE WALK our Lord Jesus demonstrated while on earth. We must AIM to be like Him IN OUR CONDUCT. We must seek to be TRANSFORMED INTO HIS IMAGE, His LIKENESS, His HOLINESS, His blameless CHARACTER.
“I will be your Father, and you will be my SONS AND DAUGHTERS, says the LORD Almighty.” (2 Corin. 6:18)
