“Jesus began to teach them (His disciples) that the Son of Man must SUFFER many things, and BE REJECTED by the elders and chief priests and scribes, and BE KILLED, and AFTER THREE DAYS RISE AGAIN. He spoke this word OPENLY (so they could easily understand). Then PETER took Him (Jesus) aside and BEGAN TO REBUKE HIM. But when He had turned around and looked at His disciples, He rebuked Peter, saying, “Get behind Me, Satan! For YOU ARE NOT MINDFUL OF THE THINGS OF GOD, but the things of men.” (Mark 8:31-33) This is one of four times that Jesus explained what was going to happen to Him. Surly they would be there on the third day after Jesus was crucified!!!
Mary Magdalene and the other Mary CAME TO SEE THE TOMB…the angel spoke to the women. “Don’t be afraid!” he said. “I know you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. HE ISN’T HERE! HE IS RISEN FROM THE DEAD, JUST AS HE SAID would happen. Come, see where His body WAS lying. And now, GO QUICKLY AND TELL HIS DISCIPLES that He has risen from the dead…” So, they ran back to tell the disciples but “…the story sounded like nonsense to the men, so THEY DIDN’T BELIEVE IT.” (Luke 24:11) “Afterward Jesus appeared in a different form to two of His followers who were walking from Jerusalem to Emmaus. They RUSHED BACK TO TELL the others, but NO ONE BELIEVED THEM.” (Mark 16:12-13)
This is so puzzling because Jesus clearly taught them about this…but look at us today, Jesus said to us, “I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in me WILL DO THE SAME WORKS I HAVE DONE, and EVEN GREATER WORKS, because I am going to be with the Father. You can ASK FOR ANYTHING in my name, and I WILL DO IT, so that the Son can bring glory to the Father. YES, ASK ME FOR ANYTHING in my name, and I will do it!” (John 14:12-14)
