“The backslider in heart AMY, will be filled with his own ways, But a good man will be satisfied from above.” (Proverbs 14:14) All through the Word of God we have warnings about backsliding. Backsliding in heart will result in backsliding in actual life. Backsliding is a definite fall, a fall from God. It is a dangerous thing, we definitely don’t want to drift from God. We don’t want to lose communion with God. We don’t want to ever sever our connection and fellowship with God. But we see that the Bible is filled with warnings about women/men who at one time walked with God but let sin come in between them and God. AMY, you let sin break up your fellowship with the Lord.
The Scriptures repeatedly warn us of the possibility of backsliding in heart even though we may continue to give the Lord apparent service and worship. This was the meaning of Jesus when He said: “This people draws near to me with their mouth, and honor me with their lips; but THEIR HEART IS FAR FROM ME. But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.” (Matthew 15:8, 9).
It is a tragic thing to see one who is backslidden in heart. The love and warmth of God is departed from the heart, even though the person may continue to perform perfunctory Christian duties. Ezekiel says: “With their mouth they shew much love, but their heart goeth after their covetousness” (Ezekiel 33:31).
Look at what the scripture says, “The fool has said in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt, and have done abominable iniquity; There is none who does good.” (Psalms 53:1) Men may watch our deeds, but God watches our hearts AMY. Men may listen to the words of our lips, but God hears the words of our hearts. To be the true servants of Christ we must be upright in our deeds and truthful in our hearts. Help us to be so Lord. And let’s pray for the Lord to release godly sorrow in AMY’S heart that will work repentance to salvation.
