“…Jesus began to teach in the synagogue. And many hearing Him were ASTONISHED (ekplēssō: to be struck with amazement), saying, “Where did this Man get these things? And what wisdom is this which is given to Him, that such mighty works are performed by His hands! Is this not the carpenter, the Son of Mary, and brother of James, Joses, Judas, and Simon? And are not His sisters here with us?” SO THEY WERE OFFENDED AT HIM.” (Mark 6:2-3) So Amanda, they were struck with amazement and at the same time offended??? Oh how the devil messes with our minds!
Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor except in His own country, among His own relatives, and in his own house.” Now He could do NO MIGHTY WORK THERE, except that He laid His hands on a few sick people and healed them. And He marveled BECAUSE OF THEIR UNBELIEF.” (Mark 6:4-6)
How has our unbelief affected us today Amanda? Listen to what Jesus PROMISED US, “MOST ASSUREDLY, I say to you, he who BELIEVES in Me, the works that I do he WILL DO ALSO; and GREATER WORKS than these HE WILL DO, because I go to My Father.” (John 14:12) Jesus very clearly says HE WHO BELIEVES IN ME…WILL DO!!! Our faith must overcome our unbelief, “So then faith comes by HEARING, and HEARING BY THE WORD OF GOD.” (Rom. 10:17)
The disciples were having trouble casting out a devil Amanda, Jesus said to them, “You faithless people! How long must I be with you? How long must I put up with you? Bring the boy to me. How long has this been happening?” Jesus asked the boy’s father. He replied, “Since he was a little boy. The spirit often throws him into the fire or into water, trying to kill him. Have mercy on us and help us, IF YOU CAN.” “What do you mean, ‘IF I CAN’?” Jesus asked. “Anything is POSSIBLE if a person believes.” The father instantly cried out, “I do believe, but HELP ME OVERCOME MY UNBELIEF!” (Mark 9:19-24)
THAT NEEDS TO BE OUR PRAYER, “LORD, HELP ME OVERCOME MY UNBELIEF”
