This is God’s promise to watch over us when we face trials, “When you pass through the waters, I WILL BE WITH YOU; and when you pass through the rivers, THEY WILL NOT SWEEP OVER YOU. When you walk through the fire, YOU WILL NOT BE BURNED; the flames will not set you ablaze. For I am the LORD your God, the Holy One…” (Isa. 43:2-3) God speaks comfort to us in these verses, reminding us of both HIS POWER and HIS COMPASSION. As we read this passage we can meditate on how God HAS BROUGHT US THUS FAR AND WILL CONTINUE TO WALK BESIDE US through difficult times.
“I have told you these things, so that IN ME you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I HAVE OVERCOME THE WORLD.” (John 16:33) This is what David loved about his shepherd AMY, “The LORD is my shepherd; I WILL DWELL IN THE HOUSE OF THE LORD Forever.” (Psalm 23)
What will the Place of the Lord be like? Jesus said, “…I go and PREPARE A PLACE for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.” (John 14:3) “Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and HE WILL DWELL WITH THEM, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God…The angel who talked to me held in his hand a gold measuring stick to measure the city, its gates, and its wall. When he measured it, he found it was a square, as wide as it was long. In fact, its length and width and height were each 1,400 miles. I saw no temple in the city, for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple. And the city has no need of sun or moon, for the glory of God illuminates the city, and the Lamb is its light.” (Rev. 21:15-16, 22-23)
