“The heart is deceitful above all things, And desperately wicked; Who can know it?” (Jeremiah 17:9) “Who can know it?” literally means, who can understand his own heart? Therefore, it is very difficult for the religious backslider to recognize her own pathetic condition unless God opens her heart to the Holy Spirit. “The backslider in heart will be filled with her own ways…” (Proverbs 14:14) Paul tells us in his letter to Timothy, “For women will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money…unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers…lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power…” (2 Timothy 3:2-5) We can see how the devil causes such deep confusion and leads people to do what they thought they would never do.
On this 638th day we need to pray that God will pour godly sorrow into Amy’s heart. That He will reveal to Amy how He sees her. “…godly sorrow PRODUCES REPENTANCE leading to salvation, not to be regretted; but the sorrow of the world produces death.” (2 Corinthians 7:10) One more portion of scripture, “…those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh…to be carnally minded IS DEATH…Because the carnal mind is enmity (an enemy) against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be.” (Romans 8:5-7)
