THE VALUE OF OUR LIVES…

“For God SO LOVED the world (you and me) that HE GAVE His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but THAT THE WORLD (you and me) THROUGH HIM might be saved.” (John 3:16-17)

And those are very, very special times. Sometimes we need to remember why we celebrate it. And one of the reasons that we celebrate the life and death, and resurrection of Jesus is because it ESTABLISHES THE VALUE OF OUR LIVES. I don’t know if you ever thought about that before. But the birth of Jesus isn’t just the birth of Jesus into the world. The birth of Jesus ESTABLISHES THE VALUE THAT GOD PUTS ON ALL OF US. And there’s a common question, you know, that people ask, and that’s what is something worth? Like you have a car or, you know, a candy bar or whatever, what’s it worth? Well, the answer is WHAT SOMEONE’S WILLING TO PAY FOR IT. You know, it doesn’t matter arbitrarily what price we put on it. It has to be, if someone’s not willing to pay for it, it’s not worth that. Okay, so here’s an important question for you. WHAT ARE YOU WORTH? WHAT IS YOUR LIFE WORTH?

Oh God,YOU MADE ALL the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb. Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it. YOU WATCHED ME as I was being formed in utter seclusion, as I was woven together in the dark of the womb. YOU SAW ME BEFORE I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed. How precious are YOUR THOUGHTS ABOUT ME, O God. They cannot be numbered!” (Psalms 139:13-17)
