It is not fun to wait for something to happen, waiting tires us out! “Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not (never) GROW TIRED OR WEARY…” (Isa. 40:28) The Lord has been waiting for us to faithfully serve Him for 6,000 years. He desires for us to be in an INTIMATE RELATIONSHIP with Him!!! Believing we have been bought with a price (the shed blood of Jesus) and forgiven, we can commune with Jesus through prayer which makes it possible for us to experience TRUE INTIMACY with God which will reshape our identities.
So, how does that happen? “He gives STRENGTH to the weary and increases the POWER of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who WAIT ON THE LORD will RENEW their strength. They will SOAR on wings like eagles; they will RUN and not grow weary; they will WALK and not be faint.” (Isa. 40:29-31)
Let’s look at this word “WAIT” I believe we will see THREE LEVELS of commitment for us as Christians.
- TRUSTING GOD: WAIT: yachal; to be patient, hope, stay, trust. “If a man die, shall he live again? all the days of my appointed time will I WAIT (yachal), till my change come.” (Job 14:14) This is good and needed, but NOT THE WORD USED to “renew our strength”
- SERVING GOD: WAIT: tsaba’; to serve, to perform, “This is it that belongs unto the Levites: from twenty and five years old and upward they shall go in to WAIT (tsaba’) upon the service of the tabernacle of the congregation:” (Num. 8:24) This also is good and needed, but NOT THE WORD USED to “renew our strength”
- BINDING TOGETHER IN AN INTIMATE RELATIONSHIP, WITH GOD: WAIT: qavah; to bind together by twisting like making a rope, to intimately join together, This IS the word used to “renew our strength” “WAIT (qavah) on the LORD; Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the LORD!“ (Psa. 27:14)
“No one can serve two masters. For you will hate one and love the other.” (Matt. 6:24) “You shall LOVE THE LORD your God with ALL your heart, soul, and strength. “And these words which I COMMAND YOU today shall be in your heart.” (Deut. 6:5-6)
IT IS TIME TO DEVELOP A SINCERE INTIMACY WITH OUR ABBA FATHER…
