Jesus said, “If you CONTINUE (menō: continually do and live) IN MY WORD, you are my disciples indeed. Then you will KNOW (ginōskō: to become intimately acquainted with) the truth. And the truth will set you free (free from all the false teaching and lies being told).” (John 8:31-32) JESUS TELLS US 4 OR 5 TIMES IN JOHN, CHAPTER 10, THAT WE WILL HEAR HIS VOICE.
The Lord WILL SEE TO IT that we know the truth! A man was reading and not understanding the bible, “Now an angel of the Lord said to Philip, “Rise and go toward the south to the road that goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza.” And he rose and went. And there was an Ethiopian…He had come to Jerusalem to worship and was returning, seated in his chariot, reading the prophet Isaiah. And the Spirit said to Philip, “Go over and join this chariot.” So, Philip ran to him… “Do you understand what you are reading?” The Ethiopian said, “How can I, unless someone guides me?” And he invited Philip to come up and sit with him. This is the passage of Scripture the eunuch was reading: “He was led like a sheep to the slaughter, and as a lamb before its shearer is silent, so He did not open His mouth. In His humiliation He was deprived of justice. Who can speak of His descendants? For His life was taken from the earth.” The eunuch asked Philip, “Tell me, please, who is the prophet talking about, himself or someone else?” Then Philip began with that very passage of Scripture and told him THE GOOD NEWS ABOUT JESUS. As they traveled along the road, they came to some water and the eunuch said, “LOOK, HERE IS WATER. WHAT CAN STAND IN THE WAY OF MY BEING BAPTIZED?” And he gave orders to stop the chariot. Then both Philip and the eunuch went down into the water and PHILIP BAPTIZED HIM. When they came up out of the water, THE SPIRIT OF THE LORD SUDDENLY TOOK PHILIP AWAY, and the eunuch did not see him again, but WENT ON HIS WAY REJOICING.” (Acts 8:26-39)
The Lord WANTS US TO UNDERSTAND to HAVE WISDOM and understanding in what we read in the Bible, “For the LORD GIVES WISDOM; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding.” (Proverbs 2:6) “If any of you LACKS WISDOM, you should ASK GOD, WHO GIVES GENEROUSLY to all without finding fault, and IT WILL BE GIVEN TO YOU.” (James 1:5)
Paul says this to those seeking wisdom, “…since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We CONTINUALLY ASK GOD TO FILL YOU WITH THE KNOWLEDGE of His will THROUGH ALL THE WISDOM and understanding that the Spirit gives, so that you may LIVE A LIFE WORTHY of the Lord and please Him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, GROWING IN THE KNOWLEDGE OF GOD…” (Colossians 1:9-10)
