There are many who consider sin as NO BIG DEAL and think breaking biblical rules won’t have any effect on them. But they are actually MOCKING GOD with their attitude. What’s more, they have fallen victim to the enemy’s deception that it’s possible to get away with wrongdoing. For this reason, right before teaching the principle of reaping what is sown, Paul tells the Galatians, “Do not be deceived: GOD CANNOT BE MOCKED. A man reaps what he sows. Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will REAP DESTRUCTION; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will REAP ETERNAL LIFE.” (Galatians 6:7-8)
“The LORD redeems the soul of His servants, And none of those who trust in Him shall be CONDEMNED (‘âsham: found guilty).” (Psalms 34:22) “For God did not send His Son into the world to CONDEMN the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.” (John 3:17)
If we make the choice to IGNORE GOD and do as we please…“God is just: He will punish those who DO NOT KNOW GOD AND DO NOT OBEY the gospel of our Lord Jesus. They will be PUNISHED WITH EVERLASTING DESTRUCTION and shut out from the presence of the Lord and from the GLORY OF HIS MIGHT.” (2 Thessalonians 1:6-9)
Just what are the consequences of sin? The ultimate—and severest—consequence of sin IS DEATH (eternal separation from God). The Bible says that “the wages of sin is DEATH” (Romans 6:23). This not only refers to PHYSICAL DEATH, but to ETERNAL SEPARATION FROM GOD: “But your iniquities have SEPARATED YOU from your God; your sins have hidden His face from you…” (Isaiah 59:2).
Many want to believe that God is so “loving” that He will overlook our “little faults,” “lapses” and “indiscretions.” Little white lies, cheating, stealing, or secretly viewing pornography—these are sins, not worthy of death, right? The problem is, SIN IS SIN, big or small. Though God loves us, His holiness is such that He cannot LIVE WITH EVIL. The prophet Habakkuk describes God this way: “Your eyes are too pure to look on evil; you cannot tolerate wrong” (Habakkuk 1:13). God does not ignore our sin. On the contrary, “you may be sure that YOUR SIN will find you out” (Numbers 32:23). In fact, “…hell has ENLARGED ITSELF, and opened its mouth without measure; and their glory, and their multitude, and their pride, and he who rejoices in her, SHALL GO DOWN INTO IT.” (Isaiah 5:14)
So, remember, “…the wages of sin is death, but the GIFT OF GOD IS ETERNAL LIFE in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 6:23) “Repent and be converted, that YOUR SINS MAY BE BLOTTED OUT…” (Acts 3:19) Just say “Lord please forgive me of my sins, and I’ll live for you.”
