“Happy (blessed) is he…WHOSE HOPE IS IN THE LORD HIS GOD, Who made heaven and earth, The sea, and all that is in them, WHO KEEPS TRUTH FOREVER…” (Psa. 146:5-6)
IN WHAT WAYS DOES THE LORD OUR GOD BLESS US? Here is some of what He does:
- He executes justice for the oppressed: “Learn to do good; Seek justice, Defend the fatherless…” (Isa. 1:17)
- He gives food to the hungry: “I was hungry and you gave Me food…” (Matt. 25:35)
- He opens the eyes of the blind: “I, the LORD, will hold Your hand; To open blind eyes…” (Isa. 42:6-7)
- He raises those who are bowed down: “The LORD upholds all who fall, And raises up all who are bowed down.” (Psa. 145:14)
- He loves the righteous: “…the LORD is righteous, He loves righteousness; His countenance beholds the upright.” (Psa. 11:7)
- He watches over the strangers: “Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some have unwittingly entertained angels.” (Heb. 13:2)
- He relieves the fatherless and widow: “Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world.” (James 1:27)
- He turns the way of the wicked upside down: The way of the wicked He turns upside down. He overturns their plans, defeats their schemes; makes their purposes accomplish what they did not intend they should accomplish: The Hebrew word here means TO BEND, TO CURVE, TO MAKE CROOKED, TO DISTORT; THEN, TO OVERTURN, TO TURN UPSIDE DOWN.
- (Psalms 146:7-9)
