“O Lord, you have EXAMINED (châqar: to search thoroughly) my heart and know EVERYTHING about me. You know when I sit or stand. When far away you know my EVERY THOUGHT. You chart the path ahead of me and tell me where to stop and rest. EVERY MOMENT YOU KNOW WHERE I AM. You know what I am going to say BEFORE I even say it.” (Psalms 139:1-4)
There is nothing about us that is hidden from God, and it is not because God is nosy. Our Lord God loves His children so much, “…that He gave His only Son so that ANYONE who BELIEVES IN HIM shall not perish but HAVE ETERNAL LIFE. God did not send His Son into the world to condemn it, but TO SAVE IT.” (John 3:16-17) “See how very much our heavenly Father loves us, for He allows us to be called HIS CHILDREN…” (think of it—and WE REALLY ARE!) (1 John 3:1) This is how important it is for us to know God’s love, “…that you, being ROOTED and GROUNDED in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height— TO KNOW (ginōskō: to become intimate with) the LOVE (agapē: sacrificial love that intentionally desires another’s highest good) of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with ALL the fullness of God.” (Ephesians 3:17-19)
Lord God, “You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit them together in my mother’s womb. Thank you for making me so wonderfully COMPLEX! It is amazing to think about. Your workmanship is marvelous—and how well I know it. YOU WERE THERE while I was being formed in utter seclusion! You saw me BEFORE I WAS BORN and SCHEDULED EACH DAY of my life before I began to breathe. EVERY DAY WAS RECORDED IN YOUR BOOK!” (Psalms 139:13-16) GOD HAS MADE A PERFECT PLAN FOR OUR LIVES BUT UNLESS WE HAVE BEEN TAUGHT ABOUT HIS PLAN, WE’LL DO OUR OWN THING. AND THAT’S NOT NECESSARILY BAD BECAUSE GOD CAN REDIRECT US TO WHAT’S BEST FOR US.
