“…the WORD OF GOD IS LIVING AND POWERFUL, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is A DISCERNER (kritikos: coming to a decision about something after studying it) OF THE THOUGHTS (enthumēsis: the emotional force of meditating and reflecting) and INTENTS (ennoia: your aims or goals about something, what do you plan to do) OF THE HEART.” (Hebrews 4:12)
Many people consider reading the Bible as just looking at and speaking just “words.” But NO, these Words are LIVING and POWERFUL words BREATHED OUT BY GOD. “ALL SCRIPTURE IS GOD–BREATHED (theópneustos: of divine origin, breathed out by God) and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be THOROUGHLY EQUIPPED for every good work.” (2 Timothy 3:16-17)
Look at what Jesus is called, “I saw heaven standing open and there before me was a white horse, whose rider is called FAITHFUL AND TRUE (this is Jesus of course) …He has a name written on Him that no one knows but He Himself. He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and HIS NAME IS THE ‘WORD OF GOD.’” (Revelation 19:11-13)
John reveals to us that, “In the beginning was THE WORD, and THE WORD was with God, and THE WORD was God…all things made by Him; without Him nothing was made that has been made.” (John 1:1-3) Then, “…THE WORD became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.” (John 1:14) When God speaks, SOMETHING ALWAYS HAPPENS, “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” DECLARES THE LORD. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, So shall MY WORD BE THAT GOES FORTH FROM MY MOUTH; IT SHALL NOT RETURN TO ME VOID (reqam: without causing something to happen), But IT SHALL ACCOMPLISH WHAT I PLEASE, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.” (Isaiah 55:8-11)
“I AM THE LORD. I speak, and THE WORD WHICH I SPEAK WILL COME TO PASS; IT WILL NO MORE BE POSTPONED…“ (Ezekiel 12:25)
