Lieutenant Harry Truman was assigned to run the regimental canteen at an Army training camp in Oklahoma. To make it a financial success, Harry took on a partner, a Jew, Sergeant Edward Jacobson. For Truman, his biographer David McCullough notes, JACOBSON’S JEWISHNESS WAS A PLUS. “I have a Jew in charge of the canteen by the name of Jacobson and he is a crackerjack,” he wrote his wife Bess. After six months, business was extraordinarily successful, and some of the other officers began teasing Harry, REFERRING TO HIM AS A “LUCKY JEW”
The friendship of Truman and Jacobson is often cited as one of the MANY MIRACULOUS DETAILS in THE STORY OF ISRAEL’S SECOND REBIRTH, as indeed it is. Yet often overlooked is the significance of Truman’s confident comment to Jacobson: “I am Cyrus”. Cyrus was the Persian emperor who allowed Ezra and the Judean exiles in Babylon TO RETURN TO THE HOLY LAND and begin to build anew after the destruction of the first Temple. Harry S. Truman, (was not really into politics, but was talked into becoming Roosevelt’s VP), LOVED ISRAEL and was all for them BEING RECOGNIZED AS A NATION. So, U.S. President Harry Truman was the first world leader to officially recognize Israel as a LEGITIMATE JEWISH STATE on May 14, 1948, only ELEVEN MINUTES AFTER ITS CREATION.
Benjamin Netanyahu wasn’t the first to compare Donald Trump to the ancient Persian leader, Cyrus. But he’s probably been the most prominent. Following the 45th president’s announcement that the US embassy in Israel WOULD MOVE FROM TEL AVIV TO JERUSALEM, the Israeli Prime Minister remarked, “I want to tell you that the Jewish people have a long memory, so we remember the proclamation of the great king, Cyrus the Great, Persian king 2,500 years ago. He proclaimed that the Jewish exiles in Babylon could COME BACK AND REBUILD OUR TEMPLE IN JERUSALEM.” The writers were saying, “Look at this parallel. God used King Cyrus, an unlikely vessel who didn’t even know who Yahweh really was, to bless His people, Israel. We believe God used Trump to DO GOOD THINGS FOR GOD’S PEOPLE TOO, even though he may not have had a personal relationship with the Lord.” “The land of Judah will be the LORD’s special possession in the holy land, and HE WILL ONCE AGAIN CHOOSE JERUSALEM to be His own city.”

This is what the Lord had said about Cyrus in Isaiah: “For the sake of Jacob my servant, of Israel my chosen, I summon you (Cyrus) by name and bestow on you a title of honor, though YOU DO NOT ACKNOWLEDGE ME.” (Isaiah 45:4) The whole point of the prophecy is that it’s a totally unlikely scenario. That Trump is a totally unlikely vessel. That THE LORD CHOSE TO USE SOMEONE TO DO GOOD TO HIS PEOPLE even though that person did not know Him.
“God has chosen the FOOLISH things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the WEAK things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty; and the BASE things of the world and the things WHICH ARE DESPISED God has chosen, and the things which ARE NOT, to bring to nothing the things that are, that NO FLESH SHOULD GLORY IN HIS PRESENCE.” (1 Corinthians 1:27-29)
