“…all glory to God, who is able, through His MIGHTY POWER at work WITHIN US, TO ACCOMPLISH INFINITELY MORE THAN WE MIGHT ASK OR THINK. Glory to Him in the church and in Christ Jesus through all generations forever and ever! Amen.” (Ephesians 3:20-21)
One of the greatest things we can do is LIFT A PERSON UP IN PRAYER. And there is no more powerful way to do this than to SPEAK SCRIPTURE ON THEIR BEHALF. Colossians 1:9-10 is a beautiful example of WHAT TO PRAY as we bring loved ones before God’s throne. Why is this so effective? Because “…the Word of God is LIVING (zaō: having vital power in itself) and POWERFUL (energēs: effectual, intense) and SHARPER (tomos: to cut by a single stroke) than any two-edged sword…” (Hebrews 4:12)
When God’s Word is spoken, VITAL, INTENSE POWER COMES FORTH THAT CUTS INTO OUR VERY BEING producing a change in us. Just one pass from the Word slices into us CAUSING A DIFFERENCE in our lives. These are not just words printed on paper, NO because, “ALL SCRIPTURE IS GOD–BREATHED and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” (2 Timothy 3:16-17) Most translations say, “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God…” But the original says (theópneustos: God-breathed). God’s Word is miraculous, when we read the words, God BREATHES THEM INTO US. Just like He did with Adam, “…the LORD God formed man from the dust of the ground and BREATHED INTO HIS NOSTRILS the breath of life, and the MAN BECAME A LIVING BEING.” (Genesis 2:7) We think we are reading words on a page but when we read God’s Word, VITAL, INTENSE POWER COMES FORTH THAT CUTS INTO OUR VERY BEING because God BREATHES HIS WORDS INTO US.
