“The Pharisees challenged Jesus, “Where is your Father?” “You do not know me or my Father,” Jesus replied. “If you knew me, you would know my Father also. He spoke these words while teaching in the temple courts…Yet no one seized Him, because His hour had not yet come.” (John 8:19-20) Jesus continued, “You are from below; I AM from above. You are of this world; I am not of this world. I told you that you would die in your sins; if you do not believe that I AM He, you will indeed die in your sins.” “WHO ARE YOU?” they asked.” (John 8:23-25)
JUST WHO IS THIS JESUS?
- JESUS HAS EQUAL POWER TO GOD: “…my teachings and my miracles. The Father GAVE ME these works to accomplish, and THEY PROVE that He sent me.” (John 5:36)
- JESUS HAS EQUAL JUDGMENT TO GOD: “You judge me by human standards, but I do not judge anyone. And if I did, my judgment would be correct in every respect because I AM NOT ALONE. The Father who sent me IS WITH ME.” (John 8:15-16)
- JESUS HAS EQUAL AUTHORITY WITH GOD: Jesus told them, “My message is not my own; IT COMES FROM GOD WHO SENT ME. Anyone who wants to do the will of God will know whether my teaching is FROM GOD OR IS MERELY MY OWN.” (John 7:16-17)
- JESUS HAS BEEN SENT BY GOD: “Your own law says that IF TWO PEOPLE AGREE about something, their witness is ACCEPTED AS FACT. I am one witness, and MY FATHER WHO SENT ME IS THE OTHER.” (John 8:17-18)
- JESUS HAS BEEN APPROVED OF BY GOD: “…don’t be so concerned about perishable things like food. Spend your energy seeking the eternal life that THE SON OF MAN CAN GIVE YOU. God the Father HAS GIVEN ME THE SEAL OF HIS APPROVAL.” (John 6:27)
- JESUS IS THE ONLY WAY TO KNOW SPIRITUAL TRUTH: Jesus said, “I am THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD. If you follow me, YOU WON’T HAVE TO WALK IN DARKNESS, because you will have THE LIGHT THAT LEADS TO LIFE.” (John 8:12)
- YOU MUST ACCEPT JESUS: “…unless YOU BELIEVE THAT I AM WHO I CLAIM TO BE, you will die in your sins.” (John 8:24)
Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father EXCEPT THROUGH ME.” (John 14:6)
